This is my favorite book of 2018 so far. I was brought to tears 4 separate times while reading this which is unusual for me. I would give it 6 stars if I could.

Rumor has it (well, reviews have it) that we meet the hero and heroine in another of the author’s novels. However, this can be read as a standalone. I am not sure if reading the other book would’ve changed how I felt about these characters since I have not read it.

I absolutely love our hero, Wes! I think he is one of my favorite heroes of all time. He makes mistakes but his heart is always in the right place when making them. He is fiercely protective and loyal despite his beginnings in life. Our heroine, Anna, is young and makes mistakes that others her age would. She tries to handle her consequences how she feels she should even if others think she is wrong.

The telling of the relationship between Wes and Anna is amazing. The build up is what made these two my favorite couple. The supporting characters made the story that much better.
