The Billionaire's Auction by Bri Blackwood
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I had never read any of the other books in this world so I walked into this story blind for the most part. I could still understand what was going on in the story without having read any previous ones. However, there are relationships between characters that began in other books and carried over to this one but you never get the whole backstory of them in this book.
That does not affect Ace and Harlow’s story at all. Harlow is a sweet girl who went into debt and needed to work that debt off as a bartender. When she ends up in a spat with another employee of her boss, he decides to auction her off to pay off her debt. Ace is a secretive man helping a friend uncover information on Harlow’s boss. When he sees her up for auction, he bids on her to save her from the certain horrible acts the other bidder wants to impose on her.
This was a good story and it was refreshing to see Ace have some humanity in him. Does the time the two spend together cause them to develop feelings for each other? This book does end in a cliffhanger setting up the next book. And I cannot wait to see how this development plays out.
