Book Review: Bare Essentials by M.L. Stephens

Bare Essentials (Dirt Roads, #1)Bare Essentials by M.L. Stephens
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

** I received a complimentary copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. **

M.L. Stephens is one of those writers that I will read anything she writes; probably even her grocery list! She always pulls me in no matter the genre she writes. Bare Essentials is no exception! This is a stand – alone novel but the main male character, Cutter, is a character from M.L.’s novel, Bare Assets. However, this novel is completely understandable without having read Bare Assets. This is a complete story with no cliff-hanger.

Cutter Harrison is trying to forget his first love by playing music and hopping from one bed to the next. Holly Avery is a Nashville agent looking for her next big star. By accident she encounters Cutter and believes she’s found her next client. Neither were looking for a relationship and in fact have a lot of personal baggage from the past. They must decide if they can get over that baggage and form a personal relationship or just keep their relationship professional.

This is a great story about overcoming the past and moving on. Cutter is still reeling from the past hurt by his first love and then again from his first wife. He has hurt from both relationships on completely different levels. Holly is a smart and independent woman who may have just found her next star and possibly even lover when she stumbled upon Cutter.
