Let me preface this review by saying that this is the first book in my 35 years of recreational reading that has completely blown my mind. I had to take time after completing it to wrap my head around what I just read.

This is also the hardest review that I have ever had to write because I don’t want to give away a single detail in this book. It would be best to read it for yourself by going into it blind.

What I thought was going to be a love story between two plane crash survivors, Bowen and Remi, turned into so much more than that. I figured there was going to be some sort of twist that was going to happen. I had even come up with some possibilities. But believe me, the twist that happened was nothing I could have prepared myself for. I literally snapped my kindle cover shut and stared into space for like an hour.

How could I, a seasoned reader, not see it coming? How did I not catch all the clues that are now so obvious? I am glad that book 2 in the series comes out in February but even that is too long to wait to see what happens next!

Book Review: The Long Road Home by Bethany-Kris

I am no stranger to author Bethany-Kris. I have read several of her books which have all been mafia stories. So, I was excited to read this one which appeared not to be mafia related.

And I loved it.

The love story between Gracen and Malachi was amazing. The conflict facing Gracen seems to be just beginning and will carry over into the next book in the series. The town, simply called The Valley, has so many secrets that I can’t wait to find out more about.

This was a refreshing story by someone who had written mostly mobster stories in the past. Bethany-Kris has shown with this book that she is more than just a mobster story author. I cannot wait for the next book in the series to see who gets their HEA next and to find out exactly what is going on with this “cult” in this town.

Book Review: Temptation by T.K. Leigh

Temptation by T.K. Leigh

If you were to ask me to name an author I read every book without even reading the blurb first, T.K. Leigh would be one of those authors. This is the first book in her new Temptation series and it was an amazing lead off book for the series.

I was hooked from the beginning of the story all the way to the end. I’m completely invested in the mysteries surrounding both Lachlan and Julia. I’m invested in their “no names week of lust” and if it ends up being more. I identify somewhat with Julia. We’re both in our 40s. We both wonder if what we have accomplished in life is enough. Besides, what 40 year old divorcee wouldn’t be flattered by a hot “adonis” paying them attention?

T.K. has always been my go to for romance and suspense. This book does end on, what I would call, a cliffhanger. I need the next book. And I needed it as soon as I finished Temptation.

Bender is the first book of the Steel Scorpions MC series. I have never read a book by this author but I’m a sucker for MC series. Bender is the VP of the MC club and Aria is a journalist moving back to her hometown. When she tries to track down what she feels is a story, she runs into Bender who is desperate to keep her from finding anything out. What Aria doesn’t realize is that the Steel Scorpions are in a “turf war” with a rival club and she puts herself right in the middle of it.

Aria and Bender have a lot of chemistry from the moment they meet. But is either good for the other? They both have their fair share of problems that have formed who they are. Aria finds out that there is more going on in her little town and joins forces with the Steel Scorpions to get to the bottom of it.

This is an amazing first book in the series. After reading the snippet of Book 2 at the end, I cannot wait for the next book to be released. It seems the series is going to take us into the lives of the main members of the MC as they navigate life and keep their town safe.

Book Review: Queen of Independence by Karen Frances

Queen of Independence by Karen Frances

This story starts out a little slow for me. In the beginning we are introduced to our heroine, Amelia. She is a smart and sassy socialite who does charity work by day and parties by night. After a few chapters we meet some of the characters in the book including the First Minister (Harry), a bodyguard he has hired (Liam) and a prince (James). All of these characters are or become intertwined in Amelia’s life. The chemistry between Amelia and Liam is amazing and you can feel it immediately. I would have preferred a little more drama surrounding Amelia but overall the story was well written.

Book Review: Nico by Eva Winners

I read the first book in this series and thought “Wow… There’s no way the next one can top it.” But, Nico did not disappoint. Through the first couple of chapters, I had my doubts but then all doubts went away. This book shares similar characteristics with Luciano - a hot Italian mobster using an Italian headstrong beauty with mob connection for revenge. While Grace and Bianca had one thing in common, they were completely different heroines. The scenes between Nico and Bianca were amazing and steamy. The secrets revealed in this book affected not just the main characters but the secondary characters as well. It was nice to see so many characters from the first book appear in this book (you do not have to read the first book to read this one, but there are references to the events of Luciano in this book). To see Bianca be the strong woman she is at the end was refreshing. Bianca may have thought she needed someone to protect her but she needs to realize that she had this all on her own. This book had plenty of spice, betrayal, lies, heartache and heart-touching moments.

This is a sneak peek at T.K. Leigh's upcoming 4 book series. If you ever want to know if a series of hers will interest you, just check to see if it has one of these free prequels. These little books usually set up the series and give you a good idea if you would be interested in purchasing the books.

Attraction sets up book 1 in the Temptation series, Temptation. I was immediately hooked in the story. We are introduced to the main characters of the story, Lachlan and Julia. Lachlan is a professional baseball player going through a hard time and sent home to come to terms with his situation. Julia is divorced, about to be 40, and reflecting on her life. Lachlan and Julia meet while in Hawaii and the stage is set. The attraction between the two is undeniable.

I can't wait to see how their story plays out in this series.
