The blurb of this book is what got me interested at the word firefighter. Don’t get me wrong, reading about perfectly chiseled billionaire CEOs is a good thing. But, reading a book about an average man embracing his imperfections is also a good thing (let’s face it: I know a whole lot more average, good looking men than I do Greek God-like billionaires). While reading is an escape from an average world, sometimes it’s a good thing to remember that more times than not, our perfect man is the average man we see every day. That’s exactly what this story is about. A writer, Ana, is tasked with writing a firefighter romance for her publisher. Tired of writing about perfect men, she sets out to write about the average “real” firefighter. When staking out her local fire station she meets firefighter Gavin. From here the love story starts. We see throughout the story that neither character is perfect. Gavin has had issues in the past that has made his body not line up with the perfect image. Ana has had issues in her past that complicates her future, at least in her mind. She must decide if Gavin is indeed her “real man”. This is a short read, perfect for the wait in a doctor’s office or on a bus/plane trip.
